Wuppertal – upcoming incubator city

The housing situation for many students and young professionals is tense, not only in the German metropolises, but also the more compact university cities are often unable to meet the demand for student apartments and micro-apartments via dormitories. For those who study or do research at the Bergische University Wuppertal  and are therefore looking for a cheap and centrally located place to stay in the Wuppertal, LIVUS  has the right offer.

The fact that the city of Wuppertal, founded in 1929 as a result of the merger of several localities, was one of the first Central European centres of industrialisation, is not apparent at first glance due to the many parks and green spaces and the Wupper river, which characterises the cityscape. However, in „German Manchester“ it is precisely the local university that refers to this heritage, with engineering courses (such as safety engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering and electrical engineering) as well as architecture, design and physics dominating, but also the European Institute for International Economic Relations domiciled here. This contributes significantly to turning the university city into a a business incubator in Germany.

Livus‘ bright and airy Student Accommodation in Wuppertal Germany are located directly opposite of the Grifflendal campus in the Wuppertal-Elberfeld district. The immediate proximity to the central campus of the Bergische University saves tiresome commuting as well as the associated costs and time losses. A bus stop at the nearby Cronenstrasse connects the apartment building with the city’s main railway station, which is only about two kilometres away. If the steep gradients and many stairs of the village do not deter you, you can safely park your bicycle in the Livus Apartment House in a cellar room provided for this purpose. For car owners who wish to travel through the Bergisches Land region independently of public transport, sufficient parking spaces are available directly at the building. The parking spaces can be rented separately.

Living directly on Campus

LIVUS offers one-room apartments from 25- 35 square meters as well as two-room versions with a size of 66  square meters.  All rooms are laid out with high-quality laminate; the bathrooms are tiled. the rent includes a stable W-LAN access without data restrictions as well as electricity. In order to make living in the mirco apartments as pleasant and comfortable as possible, the bathroom not only have modern shower with tiled mirrors, but also towel radiators, The small kitchenette with hob and refrigerator is immediately ready for use. The furnishing can be freely choses, because Livus of course leaves the furnishing to the tenants, so that everyone can design his personal place of study and retreat.

Heat, cold, and noise remain outside thanks to the high-quality insulating glass windows – creating a pleasant living and learning atmosphere for the tenants at the same time. The rooms are well designed and can be divided into living, sleeping and working areas, so that the meetings of the working group can also be concentrated and effective. It is also particularly convenient that not every tenant has to accommodate a washing machine in his apartment and dry his laundry laboriously on room-filling clothes racks – Livus has set up a comfortable laundry room for this purpose (where there are also tumble dryers). Students and young professionals appreciate the possibility to reach the lecture and seminar rooms from Campus Grifflenberg, but also the canteen and the student cafés at any time. Not everyone has the time, desire or culinary talent to cook for themselves – the proximity to the student facilities offers a practical and cost-effective alternative. But those who like cooking can do so at any time without arguing with their roommates about the contents of the refrigerator and the cleaning plans. Student life and the inspiration of working and research groups are never far away, but those who need peace and a self-designed environment to concentrate on learning and working only have to close the door to their own micro apartment.
